Zombtober - Firefighter Survivors

This weeks entry of survivors is rather special.  For those that don't know, I work for a city fire department in the Midwest.  I tried to paint these four guys similar to my FD.

Captain and Firefighter - Front

Captain and Firefighter - Rear

Firefighter and Probie (He's the cleaner one on the right) - Front

Firefighter and Probie - Rear

I apologize for that annoying hair, I didn't notice it while taking photos haha.  These firefighters are from http://www.tin-soldier.com/rpg2.html The sculpts aren't that great...needed a ton of cleanup, and the tools that came with them were so bloody terrible, I refuse to use them.  When I find suitable tools or weapons, I'll go back and add them.

These are the best modern US Firefighters I've found though...and I'm decently happy with them now that they're painted.  Enjoy!

Zombtober...Sort of.

This is a mini that I painted last year for Zombtober 2013, but while looking over my zombies I decided I wanted to do some extra work on the base. So, I present you with -

This is a Reaper Zombie Stripper.  I now have a different style of painting zombies...basically more greyish.  That being said, I like her paint job.  I dressed up the base with a stripper pole (paper clip), and some dollar bills (paper, colored with one of my wee lads markers and then washed with a dark brown wash).

I'm not counting this as my official Zombtober 2014 entry for this week, but I wanted to share it with y'all.

Zombtober 2014 #2

Time for my next round of zombies.  Now I must admit, some of these were half finished from last year, so the work put in was not too bad at all.

These three Zeds are Wargames Factory plastics...on first opening the box I thought they were terrible...assembly was a pain in the @ss and there was not a lot of variety in poses.  Oh what a paint job will do!

These two - Left is a Studio Miniatures Tiny Terrors sculpt, painted in Oregon Ducks Colors.  Right is my attempt at making a slightly older Black Sabbath fan out of a WF plastic.

These two = Left is a Reaper Zombie Doctor. Right is also a Studio Miniatures Tiny Terrors Sculpt.

I'm posting better pics of these HazMat Team members due to a request.  Again, they're from Hasslefree and were a joy to paint. No cleanup needed!

Hope y'all enjoy this zombie goodness!

My First Joker

From the depths of space, an incredibly ancient vessel drifts slowly towards the Imperium of mankind...........

Yes folks, I went and used my first joker on, "Space Hulk" by Games Workshop.  I would like to point out that it theoretically is a board game, but....Since I plan on painting the mini's, Chris ruled that it was a joker. Blast it!

So, what came in the box you ask? Well, here is the list on the back of the box -

1 Rulebook
1 Mission Book w/16 Missions
12 Space Marine Models
22 GeneStealer Models
1 Broodlord Model
3 Mission Objective Models
110 Gaming Counters
77 Corridor and Room Sections
2 Boarding Torpedoes and Ramps
20 Doors w/Plastic Stands
5 D6 Dice
1 Mission Status Display
1 Timer

I'd also like to note that the first thing that fell out when I opened this monstrosity of a box (it bloody weighs AT LEAST 10 pounds) was a roll of ZipLock bags to store all the counters in! Well done GW.

This will be honestly my first move anywhere near the 40K universe...but after having a read through the rulebook, I'm excited to have a game or 10.  There will be further pics and progress reports as I clear room on the workbench to be able to work on this stuff!

6MMRPC - More Finished Vikings and Civilians

Finished these Viking Warriors from Gripping Beast.  They required a bit of cleanup but were loaded with detail.

Also finished up these Pictish Slingers.  I believe they're from Black Tree. Loads of character and required minimal cleanup. Beautiful sculpts!

These Dark Age Hogs (Can't remember what manufacturer) and the GB Shepherds to mind 'em. Oh and the Reaper woman...who I'm not really sure if she'll work for dark ages or not.

And last but not least, a Romano-British Champion!

Slowly but surely making headway into my Dark Age backlog...though these bloody zombies are slowing it down!

6MMRPC Zombtober Update #1

While this is being posted on Tuesday, Oct. 7 I promise that the figures were done last Friday...that being said, theoretically today is the end of the first week in Oct, so I think I'm ok!

So anyway, my Zombtober entry for this week are these lovely zombies from Studio Miniatures.  Nice clean sculpts. I'm continuously impressed by the quality of SM products.

I painted the older gentleman as a Amish Zombie, and the kid is wearing a shirt with the number 1 on it.  He's a Kansas City Chiefs fan obviously!

Further blog posts coming tonight and tomorrow, including an admission of my using my first Joker in the 6MMRPC.

ZOMBTOBER IS HERE...

Zombtober is a very simple challenge, originally developed by Rob over at Four Colour Super Minis.

Basically the one and only rule is: Paint at least 1 Zombie per week in October, and blog about it (pictures highly encouraged).

My personal goal, is - 4 Zombies per week, and at least 1 survivor.  I'm also going to be working on some terrain and figures for my post-apocalyptic gaming, as well as continuing work on my Vikings.

It's going to be a busy month!

Also, passed 2000 pageviews! Next goal is 5000! I'm debating an idea of at 10,000 maybe doing some sort of competition for some sort of prize haha.
