It has been radio silent for a little bit, but for good reason. I've been working away at my 15mm German infantry platoon for "Chain of Command" and finally got them done! Now, I must have miscounted when I was assembling this platoon as I'm short about 6 riflemen, but this seems rather true to form for the German army circa late 1943-45 so, I'm just going to use it as an under strength platoon until I find suitable figures to round them out.
These are all Plastic Soldier Company Late War German plastics, and while they painted up nice enough, they're a tad spindly and a pain to put together. The Panzerschrek team is from the PSC Heavy Weapons box, and they seem "chunky'er" so I wonder if PSC is maybe adjusting they're ranges to more fit in with the likes of Battlefront? I'm quite happy with this base platoon, and am looking forward to extending my WW2 collection further in 15mm and also in 20mm.
I've also finished these three scatter bases of mines. They're 28mm and were super easy to paint.
Rather productive couple of weeks. Now on to painting these -
Absolutely awesome kits from Red Vectors. Very simple and quick to put together.
Oh, and I also had a Lord of the Rings themed game of "Song of Blades and Heroes" with a wargaming newbie/friend that was a lot of fun and was very well received by said friend!

Lord of the Rings on the Cheap
So as I slowly continue sorting through my closet of shame for the currently running 6MMRPC, I came across my old LOTR "clix" style figures. Now, back when I was 8-14 yrs old, I loved the clix style games, but I no longer play them soooo, I decided to update the collection to be usable with rules I play now.
So, I removed the figures from the hex bases, mounted them to my normal fender washers. Then gave them all a dark brown wash, varnished them, and tarted up the bases with my normal flock concoction. Done and dusted.
37 Figures ready for playing games and it took all told about 2 hours to do.
3 Ring-Wraiths. Good sculpts, dynamic poses. Shit weapons, but oh well. |
Saruman the White. No I didn't paint the eyes. |
Easterling Warrior and Shaman. |
Moria Orc Champions |
Moria Orcs. Really pleased with how the wash made the faces look. |
Moria Orc Bowman |
Moria Orc Spearmen |
Elrond. |
Mirkwood Elf Swordsmen |
Mirkwood Elf Bowmen |
Frodo w/the Ring and Sting and 2 diff. Aragorn sculpts. Again, the swords suck but didn't want to spend a bunch of time converting on this cheap and fast mini project. |
Rohan Archers. Probably going to see use as Viking archers as well. |
Dismounted Rider's of Rohan. |
Dismounted Rohan Warrior and a Gondorian Archer |
2 Dunedain Ranger Archers. |

Pre-Challenge Work - Frostgrave and a Tank
So in the month that I've been home, I've worked really hard (HA!) to get my Frostgrave warband ready for action. Below are my results.
Sigilist Band, with Sigilist and Apprentice, Ranger, Thief, 2x Infantrymen, Crossbowman, Knight, Archer, and Marksman.
Close up of the Sigilist and Apprentice, both from North Star's Frostgrave Range.
Close up of the Ranger and Thief. Merry and Aragorn from GW's Lord of the Rings game.
Two Infantrymen from FireForge's Teutonic Infantry box, and a Perry Knight. I attempted to paint the House Bolton Sigil from Game of Thrones, as these guys will also see service in my House Bolton force for Dragon Rampant.
Marksman and Archer, both from the Perry English Army box, and a Crossbowman from the Fireforge Teutonic Infantry set.
Last but not least - a 15mm T-34 for use with my Chain of Command and I Ain't Been Shot Mum Soviet forces. Yes I base my vehicles!
And here's a shot of my workbench for the 3MMRPC...I'm insane!

Final Painted Figures from the 6MMRPC
I know I know, the challenge ended earlier this week. The figures I'm about to post pics of were finished before that date, I've just been bloody busy.
As I've stated, I'm taking a break from Dark Age stuff for a bit, so I present -
The first two finished Huron warriors for my French & Indian War and AWI project. They are EXTREMELY detailed sculpts, and frankly, I don't think I did them justice. I didn't even attempt to do the beadwork on their pouches or straps. I'm planning on trying to on the next several. I mean hell, I only have another 24 to practice on haha! Oh, the ruleset I'm planning on using is the excellent Muskets & Tomahawks by Studio Tomahawk.
Next up, my first entry into the fantasy genre -
Four Goblins from the GW Goblintown limited edition set. I'm going to not only be using them with the "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" rules, but also "Songs of Blades and Heroes" and possibly "Open Combat".
I've got a lot of stuff on the workbench (as usual), a book series review to post up, a visit to an art museum to share with y'all, and the Round Up for the 6MMRPC to do. The round up will have to wait til I get home from my military weekend though as I don't have a picture of everything I've finished during the challenge.
Watch this space!
