Mythic Battles Figures, Zombicide & BadSquiddo Dwarves

Finished up a couple more figures -

First up: Atlanta and the Minotaur from Mythic Battles: Pantheon. I'm...ambivalent with how they turned out.  I could've done a better job but I'm not going back to redo them.  Hearing rumors that Mythic Battles: Ragnarok is coming in June 2020 so better start saving pennies!

Next up - On the left is the dwarf from the main game of Zombicide - Black Plague. Characterful bugger with a unibrow and an annoying mold line I missed on his hand.

On the right is a Badsquiddo Games female dwarf from the recent kickstarter. Once again, enormous fun to paint. Decided to go with a Shaolin Monk inspired paint scheme on her. Love how she turned out!

Survivors & Boardgame Figures

Quick update - On the left: Finished Reaper Chronoscope Zombie Apocalypse Survivor. On the right: "Not Herschel" from Studio Miniatures. Love both of these figures. Super fun to paint up.

Left - Reaper Survivor. Right - Herschel from Studio Miniatures
Next, we have a couple boardgame figures in the continuing saga of trying to be able to play them with painted bits. Mythic Battles: Pantheon goddess Athena, and Zombicide: Black Plague Plague Doctor.

Rather annoyed I missed that mold line on the back of his head.

FIW Civilians, Zombicide:Black Plague and some Terrain

These were actually finished back in May, but I had a varnishing muckup on a humid day so I got very unmotivated very quickly.  Finally getting around to fixing them and getting them posted.

First up - 4 FIW/AWI 28mm Civilians from Warlord Games.  Painted up easily, decent detail, just a tad on the short side. I personally don't mind that as, "everyone is different" but if you're a scale purist...be warned.

Next we have four Zombicide: Black Plague Survivors. I absolutely love all the minis that CMON has created for all their games and these are no different.  They'll be used for Fantasy or Medieval gaming as well as the boardgame.

Finally, we have some 28mm Jersey Barriers for modern, sci-fi, or post apoc games.  I believe they're from Armorcast.

Board-Game Acquisitions

A couple weeks ago, I was going to be at a slow-ish firehouse for my 24hr shift, so I took the old solo Avalon Hill game "Queen of the Skies" about the bomber missions against mainland Europe in 1943-44.  I played through several missions and had a great time in the evening after our daily duties and training were done and between emergency calls and it reminded me how much I like some of the old board games I played with my Dad and Grandpa as a kid.

Hopped on ebay and acquired a couple more to add to the collection.  I'll post some more pictures/game reports etc. once I actually play some games, but here's what I got -

Kingmaker is one I've been after for awhile, but was always going for silly money on ebay, got this one complete and in very decent shape for being 45 years old!

Civil War from Avalon Hill circa 1961.  Board and Rules are in great shape, but the tokens are all replacements.

The story behind this is - I saw a conversation on twitter between Professor Tony Pollard and Henry Hyde about this "A Book of Sandhurst Wargames" by the esteemed Paddy Griffith.  The pictures Prof. Pollard posted were mainly of the maps which piqued my interest, so I jumped on ebay and amazon and picked up a complete and in damn near pristine shape copy for about $8.50 plus shipping.  Looks very interesting and the maps are AWESOME!

That's all for now, more to come soon!

Zombicide: Black Plague Heroes

I have a bad habit of buying hybrid boardgames with a metric shed load of miniatures in them...Then wanting to paint all of them.  I backed the Zombicide: Black Plague kickstarter about 3 years ago before I deployed.  When I returned home, two big boxes were sitting there loaded to the gills with Z:BP stuff, and here it is 3 years later and I've not painted much.  Here's four more finished though!

2 Knights and a very angry Nun

Warrior Wizard

The Z:BP figures really are A LOT of fun to paint, and I plan on using them (like almost all my figures) in a multitude of games.

MB:P - Hoplites

The seemingly never ending saga of slowly painting my way through Mythic Battles continues with the completion of these 5 Hoplites.  I wanted to make them different from the Spartans so went with green cloaks instead of red.  I'm happy with how they turned out.  Only something like 180+ minis from that set to go.  Will probably do some Amazons or heroes next.

6MMRPC - MB:P Heracles

Finished up Heracles a few days ago.  Pretty happy with how this first hero I've painted from the core box turned out.  Hope you guys like him.

Cerberus aka Fluffy

Continuing with the MB:P painting project, I give you Cerberus - Guardian of the gates of Hades.

Lovely model, with no flash or gaps that needed filling.

6MMRPC - MB:P - Spartans and Hell Hounds

Next up in the saga of painting MB:P I present the three Spartans from the core box.

and the six core box sculpts (there are other sculpts in other boxes) of Infernal or Hell Hounds.

I painted the hounds in a way to try and bring up mental images of  ugly mangy fur-less nasty buggers with some rusty collars and chains.  I think I succeeded.

6MMRPC 2.3 Shadows of Brimstone Monster

So I cranked through another completed figure today. It's the largest monster from Shadows of Brimstone.

I varnished it with a gloss varnish, and was debating doing a matte varnish but I think I kind of like the glossy/slimy look.

The thing I really like about painting the pieces from boardgames is that almost all of them can be used for other things.
