28mm Fantasy Figures Update

This is a big catch-up post, as the ones coming up are from November on - Started another 6 Month Mountain Reduction Painting Challenge on Nov. 1 and it's running through May 1 2022. So lets dig into all the fantasy stuff finished prior to November.

4x Empire lads for Mordheim/Frostgrave -

I acquired Cursed City off ebay for aprrox what it would've cost brand new, and it was already assembled! So here you have the first 3 things I've done for it -

Old school GW Empire Wizard for Mordheim/Frostgrave -

Legolas in metal from GW's Lord of the Rings - Fellowship of the Ring set -

6 absolutely GORGEOUS Heresy Miniatures goblins. These were a ton of fun to paint!

Lots done to be fair!

Warhammer Old World Campaigns (4) - Empire Army Started

As I continue working through all my "catch-up" posts, these are the start of my Empire army for Warmaster and various other mass battle fantasy rulesets we're trying for the Old World Campaign.

My goal for this army is to have it encompass all the various provinces and principalities of the Empire so that if I ever wanted to, I could expand it and have different Electors fighting each other. An added benefit of this plan is that it is going to be a VERY colorful army. A disadvantage to this plan is that it takes bloody forever to paint a unit! But, I think they're turning out ok.

First up we have a unit of Averland Pikemen. 10 figures per base. I'm quite happy with how they turned out! Pendraken 10mm Landsknecht Pikemen as proxy.

Next we have a unit of The Reiksguard. A lovely unit of heavy cavalry. 10mm Pendraken.

Finally we have a unit of Altdorf Greatswordsmen. Very very pleased with how they turned out, though I need to get better at freehanding 10mm flags and banners. 10mm Pendraken Landsknechts.

I have a ton more units to paint for this army, but as noted above - they take a bit of time. I hope you're enjoying this project as much as I am!

Warhammer Old World Campaigns (3) - Lizardmen Army

Greetings and Happy Halloween! These Lizardmen were finished way earlier in the year; apologies for not getting them up sooner!

A mix of GW Warmaster figures and Pendraken 10mm figures proxying.

1x Unit of Terradon Flyers.

2x Saurus Heroes.

1x Unit of Temple Guard.

3x Units of Skinks, Skink Shaman, and 2x Skink Heroes.

2x Units of Cold One Riders.

4x Units of Saurus Infantry.

3x Various Slann Mages to give me variety of choice.

Still enjoying the 10mm projects; and the Pendraken figures are absolutely brilliant! Tons more to do!

Warhammer Old World Campaigns (2) Tomb King Army

As my best friend and I move forward with our plans for a massive old world campaign; the collecting and painting of wee little 10mm figures commences with The Tomb Kings.

Skeleton Archers

Skull Chuckers

Pharaoh

Skeleton Infantry which will also be useable in a Vampire Counts Army

Skeleton Chariots and General

Skeleton Cavalry and a Bone Giant

I am really really enjoying 10mm as a scale. They're fun to paint and bloody quick. These are all GW Warmaster figures except for the Bone Giant, which is a 28mm Mantic Skeleton. Stay tuned as we continue down this massive rabbit hole.

The Skeleton Signpost

Finally got around to finishing this little terrain project I started about 2 years ago.

The skeleton signpost.  I used an 8 inch round piece of mdf, a whopping big tree from Woodland Scenics, a bunch of cork sheet, and the skeleton on a post from the GW Giant kit.  It'll see use in a myriad of systems, hence why there isn't anything written on the actual sign yet...can't make up my mind as to what it should say.

It was a long term, but fun little project, and I think it will be quite useful.

If you have a suggestion as to what the sign should say, drop me a comment!

Kill Team Game and a Few Thoughts

Hey all,
Went over to my buddy Kev's house the other day so that he could introduce myself and another friend of ours to the new "Kill Team" from Games Workshop.  It was a three-way mashup of my Tau vs Kevs Tyranids, and our friends Salamanders.

I'm happy to say, my Tau on their first outing - did not lose.  They didn't win...but they didn't lose haha.

So.  What'd I like?

Well, the quality of the components in the Kill Team starter box is excellent.  As you'd expect.  The terrain is pretty damn cool and isn't too "skulled" up so could work for some post apocalyptic gaming.  Terrain in the photos is not painted, but as you can see, it works.

Now, the only thing I didn't like -

The combat sequence is way too complicated.

It was a fun day, and I'd play it again.

Deployment - Tau = Closest, to the right are the Salamanders, and across the board are the Tyranids.

A tyranid charges the Tau Gun Drone

As the tyranids get stuck in charging salamanders, Tau move to the upper levels of a bombed out building to get better line of sight.

Tyranids and Tau attacking a Salamander Position.  Who will die first?!

Another angle of the overwatching Tau

It was very nice to get my painted figures on the table so quickly after finishing them a couple weeks ago.  Now to dig out my copy of "In the Emperors Name"

More finished figures coming soon, as well as some updated plans and editorial thoughts.
