THE 2nd ANNUAL 6 Month Mountain Reduction and Painting Challenge!

Alright everybody, it's time for the 2nd Annual 6 Month Mountain Reduction and Painting Challenge or 6MMRPC.  We've changed up the time frame - it's going to run from June 1, 2015 thru November 30, 2015.  This avoids Christmas.  There have also been a few rules changes, and some exciting additions IN BOLD.

1. No purchasing of new miniatures, EXCEPT if you use a joker.  You get three jokers to use on a figure purchase.  Could be a blister pack, an ebay bundle, or a single figure...you can't splurge. The only exception to this rule is if you need bitz or A FIGURE (Singular) to complete a unit/warband etc.

1.1 - There is an opportunity to "earn" additional jokers.  If you complete an entire project (whole unit/army/warband etc.) with pictures of starting, WIP, and completion, you earn yourself a Joker.

2.  Gifts do not count against you. Holidays, birthdays etc. Also, if you're given gift cards by your hobby illiterate family or friends, you can without penalty use them on anything you want miniatures wise.

3.  Paints, terrain (or materials), and other hobby supplies do not apply to the no purchasing rule.

4.  At least one hobby related blog post and/or Instagram update a week.  If you instagram, be sure to hashtag your pic with #6MMRPC

5.  Zombtober will be part of the 6 month challenge so, Zombie related stuff during October is ENCOURAGED. Other theme suggestions are welcomed.

6.  Anyone that wants to submit a before and after picture of a miniature that they are proud of completing during the course of the challenge to dmcffd@gmail.com will be entered into the running for a gift certificate to a online wargaming store of their choice.  Judging will be by an un-biased person.  Amount on the gift certificate will be dictated by winners nationality but should work out to about $30 U.S. I (Spiderweb of History) will not be eligible to win.

So spread the word folks, and lets make this an even better challenge than the last!

  1. Excellent! I'll come back for another go at this, since the last one I've been sticking to the goal of painting more than I buy anyway, this will give me even more motivation!

  2. My mountain has..... not gone down much since last challenge and I've been in a burnout of late.

Maybe a new 6MMRPC will help kickstart things again in my hobby room?

    (O and, 3 Jokers?! That's rather kind. :) )

  3. I'm thinking the same Dai... I've done barely anything since the last one ended. Might have to give the second one a try!

  4. I'm going to give this a go. I've been working on my own lead pile eradication project since the start of the year, and a little bit of moral support would help.

I've just had my birthday, so I'm fairly well stocked up on new stuff to cope for a while. The jokers might take a beating over the summer though.

What do I need to do to sign up?

  5. Good stuff! It's nice to know I'm not the only one who has a "mountain of lead" and the struggle that goes along with trying to make it smaller. I'll sign up as well.

  8. Love a challenge and the mound of minis is getting out of control. I even have some very old stuff I might dig out - is there a formal enrolment process.

    1. All you have to do is state you're doing it, do you have a blog, Facebook account, or Instagram account?

    2. So the journey begins - I have now created a blog: http://hermitspaintstation.blogspot.co.uk - and have added the first post.

Next up is sorting the painting area, then move on to rifling through the miniature stack.

Thanks for allowing me on board, and looking forwards to 1st June.....

    3. I tried to add you to the blogroll. It says it "can't detect a feed for this url". I'm guessing that it's because it's a new blog. I'll try it again in a day or so. If you are aware of any feed like options you turned off, you might want to change that setting....

  9. I decided to join in too. My hobby purchases are really getting out of bound lately.
I also hope this challenge keeps me painting.

  13. OK, count me in.
    Just two things:
    - my blog posts are usually written in french. Should i use english for my weekly #6MMRPC post ?
    - during the course of July i will move out and probably be out of connection for some time. Also all my miniatures will be carefully wrapped. Therefore, I probably won't be able to post as regurlarly as requested for 2 weeks. Is that an issue ?

-Lots of people tend to drop in and out with gaps in their posting due to real life or painting apathy. I think if we were all solid producers we wouldn't have the piles of lead and plastic we do.

-It might be nice to have an english blurb for us anglophones (in addition to the french, if you wish?). You'd probably get a bit more traffic and comments that way too.

  16. Sign me up, and maybe even the other Weemen contributers, I know their Mountains of Grey Plastic and Resin are stacking up. I can't promise a post a week as I am out of country for some of the time with work, but any progress will be good progress! I am a firm advocate of getting scenery done as I have posted about before, and I 'need' to progress the Relictors and Necrons, so please add weemen.blogspot.co.uk to your list of participants!
Great stuff, nice to see the Admiral here too! Will add a widget to the blog and of course add the other contributors too so I can check up (and hopefully get eachother mutual traffic)
